Common Questions

Wellbeing FAQs

A few things members often ask about how the gym approaches mental health and wellbeing.

Is this a therapy service?

No. We are a community gym. The resources on this page are here to help you find professional support when you need it — we signpost, we don't replace clinical care.

Do I need to be a member to use the gym?

You don't need to be a member to come to a class or pop in for a chat. Free Saturdays are open to everyone, every week, no sign-up required. Membership starts at £21.99/month if you want to use the space regularly — the £18.99 Volunteer / Blue Light / Military tier is available to anyone in those categories who asks at signup.

What does "wellbeing" mean here?

Wellbeing means looking after the whole person — moving your body, having a cuppa in the lounge, a chat with a volunteer, or just being somewhere that isn't four walls. The gym is a community space first, a workout second.

Can I talk to a volunteer?

Yes. Our volunteers aren't counsellors, but they're good listeners and they know the local services. Pop in during staffed hours and someone will always make time for you.

Where can I find a quiet space?

Our lounge area off the main gym floor is set up for quiet conversations. Just ask any volunteer — they'll point you there and make sure you're not disturbed.

How do I report a concern about a member?

Speak to any volunteer in person, or email hello@highstreetfitness.org.uk. If you're worried about someone's immediate safety, call 999 — and please tell us afterwards so we can support them on their next visit.
