Sixth-Form & Uni Students
Cheap enough to keep through exam season, close enough to walk to from town. No parent's credit card required — just your own email and a few pounds a month.
A gym membership should not be a stretch for someone paid hourly. If cost is the only thing stopping someone in Torfaen from training, the model has failed. Come in, try it, see if the floor fits.
We're a community gym, not a fitness brand. The doors are open to anyone in Pontypool and Torfaen — first-timers, returners, parents carving out an hour, shift workers who can't plan around a 9-to-5. If you're willing to put the work in, you're welcome here.
Three things don't change at this gym, no matter who you are or why you walked in: you will be treated like an adult, your trainer-of-the-day is the person next to you on the floor, and no one is going to try to sell you a transformation. If somebody breaks that promise, tell a volunteer — we'll handle it.

An hour while the kids are at school. Some come for the headspace, some for the strength training they put off for a decade. The creak of the rack and the chat at the water fountain is the same.
Night shift, early shift, four-on-four-off. The 24/7 access was built for people who can't plan around a 9-to-5 gym. Train at 5am or 11pm — no questions, no extra fee.
Coming back after injury, after pregnancy, after years of nothing. Slow lanes, no mirrors in your face, no one filming your first deadlift. You rebuild at whatever pace keeps you coming back.
Long-term Pontypool residents who've been through every fitness phase since the 90s and landed here because it's the only gym that never tried to sell them a transformation. Joint-friendly, no music wars, members who respect the work.
Pronouns respected on the floor and at reception. Changing rooms with privacy cubicles. Volunteers trained on basic trans inclusion. We are not perfect — but we listen, and we make changes when a member tells us we got it wrong.
Never set foot in a gym? Bring a towel and an open mind. We'll walk you around the kit, show you how the racks work, and pair you with a member who'd rather help you get started than post about it.
A sliding-scale means you pay what you can genuinely afford, not what we wish we could charge. Nobody checks your bank account. Nobody asks for proof. The standard tier funds the hardship fund. Pick what fits and change it next month if it doesn't.
The headline membership. This is what covers the gym's rent, utilities and volunteer insurance.
Pick the tier that fits today — change it any month if your circumstances change. If even the £21.99 Standard tier is a stretch, tell a volunteer about the hardship fund or claim a free trial pass.
A small pot of money, held by the volunteer team, covers the gap if the Standard £21.99 is a stretch. Tell any volunteer — same person who runs the free Saturday rota — and it stays between you. The Hardship Fund is funded entirely by members who pay a bit extra when they can.
One free Saturday session, no card, no email required at the door. Come in, meet a volunteer, walk the floor, decide whether the lift culture is for you. If you sign up within two weeks, your first paid month is half-price — and if it isn't for you, the trial pass costs us nothing but a bit of cleaning.
A few of the most common things people ask us about who we serve and how cost works.
It genuinely isn't. If you can't afford the £21.99 Standard tier or the £18.99 Volunteer / Blue Light / Military tier, the hardship fund covers you. Nobody checks. Nobody asks for evidence. The whole reason we're a charity is to keep this part honest.
A volunteer-held pot, funded entirely by members who pay a bit extra when they can and by one-off donations. If the headline tier is a stretch, ask any volunteer — same person who runs the free Saturday rota. It stays between you and them. We never publish who took it or how much was drawn down.
Yes. Pronouns are respected on the floor and at reception. Changing rooms have privacy cubicles. Volunteers get basic trans-inclusion training. We are not perfect — but we listen, and we change the policy when a member tells us we got it wrong.
Yes. Book a free Saturday session and ask for a floor walk at reception. A volunteer or experienced member will show you how the racks, machines and free weights work, and stay until you feel confident. No charge, no contract, no follow-up sales email.
Always. The choice between tiers is yours, and yours alone. Volunteers will never ask why you picked the tier you picked, and other members can't see which tier you're on. If somebody gives you grief for your tier, that's a violation of the community standards and a volunteer will step in.
The sliding-scale is not a marketing trick. It is the whole point of being a charity gym. If cost is a barrier, tell us — we'll find a way.
